Excellent article from Tim Harford at the FT explaining that the biggest problem companies face when trying to exploit new innovations is if when a complete re-organisation is required. Very relevant for insurers: some new ideas should be relatively easy to implement, others extremely difficult
Dominant organisations are prone to stumble when the new technology requires a new organisational structure. An innovation might be radical but, if it fits the structure that already existed, an incumbent firm has a good chance of carrying its lead from the old world to the new.
